There are approximately 100 residents of the Lakeland area who are members of the Cold Lake Islamic Society. The ever growing Muslim population in this region reinforces the need for an official mosque in the Cold Lake area.
Ajaz was recently invited to speak to the students of Cold Lake Elementary School about the virtues of Islam and its gentle teachings, promoting tolerance and understanding of different faiths.
On behalf of the Cold Lake Islamic Society, Ajaz Quraishi regularly pays tribute to Canada's fallen soldiers during Remembrance Day services.
As part of the society's ongoing mission of presenting Islam's gentle teachings and promotion of tolerance of all faiths, members attend Cold Lake's Community Registration Day.

CLIS President Ajaz Quraishi was recently asked to present a brief outline of Islam to the local Scouts. Along with the United Church's Reverand David Crosbie, they showed the young pupils the similarities of both Muslim and Christian beliefs. This was all part of the Scouts earning their World Religions badges.
Students at Cold Lake's Assumption Jr/Sr High, a Catholic school, were recently treated to an Inter-Faith presentation, with leaders from a number of religions, including CLIS President Ajaz Quraishi teaching the students about Islam. |
